The Center Presents: John Michael and the Order of the Penix
Jan 13, 2020 - 8:00 PM
A play that’s part spoof, part fantasy, part social commentary. In it, an epidemic is killing witches and wizards. The Boy Who Lived might not be living for very much longer and only John Michael, a Muggle from Dallas who’s also a queer performance artist, can save the world from AIDS.
John Michael might not know how to use a wand, but he knows how to use a condom.
“He’s vulgar and highly funny, but John Michael isn’t being provocative merely for the sake of shocking. The Harry Potter metaphors go deeper as he describes a lightning-shaped scar on his penix.” – Mark Lowry Theatre Jones
Attendees are encouraged to dress the theme—Witches and Wizards—and will have the opportunity to compete for best costume.
Doors 7pm/Show 8pm
